Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated System Architect to design and configure major components of the Hadoop distributed computing platform. As a System Architect, you will work with an extremely bright, motivated and energetic team as you investigate, prototype, propose and develop next generation technology options for distributed computing. We are looking for candidates who have a broad set of technology skills across many areas and who can demonstrate an ability to apply Hadoop solutions to big data problems.? This position is located in the client’s Annapolis Junction, MD offices.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide user account management, network configuration, routine maintenance, workstation/disk configuration & management, troubleshooting, documentation, training, and support for Unix, Linux, and Windows systems, peripherals, kernels, and scripts.
  • Install and maintain software applications and provide recommendations on methods to improve or update existing systems to maximize performance.
  • Provide system administration support.
  • Collect and review system data for capacity and planning purposes.
  • Work closely with clients to provide technical insight and analytics.


Must have:

  • Current TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
  • A minimum of one (1) year, since 2008 managing network and server equipment.
  • Either Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MSCA) or Redhat Certified Technician (RHCT) required.
  • Within the last three (3) years, one (1) year experience performing periodic system back-ups and develop/documents standard operating procedures for these activities.

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or IA preferred but not required.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience managing a HADOOP cluster environment.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and performance tuning Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a compute cluster environment.
